This session will present WOSM global approach to Scouting & Humanitarian Action and will explore interactively with the participants how to engage and address the specific needs of young people in humanitarian settings (ex: refugee camp).
During the 3 hours session, participants will go through a case study that will present an evolving humanitarian crisis. They will have to analyse the challenges and opportunities for Scouting as an educational movement in different phases of the crisis, present and defend their ideas in small groups and in plenary.
At the end of the session, the participants will have discussed the main needs of young people in humanitarian settings that Scouting could address and how. They will also have discussed the benefits and possible ways of actively engaging Young People (Scouts and non-Scouts) in humanitarian settings, not just as beneficiaries, but as actors contributing significantly to resolve the crisis.
Participants registering for this session are asked to download and install in advance the Kahoot! App on their smartphone. Available for both iOS and Android.
